InterContinental Hotel Toronto Centre

Complete refurbishment to up-flag the 587 room property to InterContinental brand. The $27 million project included extensive renovations to all public spaces inclusive of entrances, restaurant, lounge, ballroom, function rooms, boardrooms and guest rooms. www.torontotocentre.intercontinental.com


JiXiang Tower Hotel/Condominium/Retail Development, Guangzhou

GFA 130,000 m2 mixed development on 37 storeys. Stacked atria with high performance glazing. 416 room hotel on top 13 levels 27,300 m2, office on 11 levels 30,000 m2, 12 levels of retail and entertainment 44,700 m2, underground 4 levels for 262 cars and services 28,000 m2. US$165 million.


TakOn Hotel, Guangzhou

This is the first hip hotel to be developed in Guangzhou. The site is next to the iconic Garden Hotel. The design features a curved facade, 12-storey atrium with green wall and cutting-edge interior furnishings. 322 rooms at 50-70 m2 on 24 storeys. 33,000 m2. US$53 million.

 

ChangAn Avenue Hotel/Office/Condominium Development, Beijing

The development occupies a prestigious site on ChangAn Avenue, near the Forbidden Palace. The design took advantage of the significant scale of the components and sculpted the massing with a horizontal fluid expression to create excitement within downtown Beijing’s development height restriction. 180,000 m2.  US$250 million. WGD/WZMH architects in joint venture.

 

Beihai Park Imperial Resort, Beijing

The site is located at the northwest corner of the Beihai Park on the Forbidden Palace ground. The structures were replica of the palace buildings that were burnt down during the Boxer Rebellion. A 40-suite boutique hotel is planned for the above ground structures. 5 levels of underground hospitality facilities include spa, health club, conference and entertainment facilities. 18,500 m2. US$46 million.

 

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Development, Toronto

The scope of development comprises a new 309-room tower addition to the existing 443-room hotel. A new extended stay tower of 232 suites is also added at the south end of the property. 32,000 m2. $90 million.

Exhibition Place Arena

Winning entry of a developer proposal call, the 30,000 seat sports arena was designed to be flexible, versatile and combine the outdoor feeling of an amphitheatre, the efficient space planning and crowd control of a large hockey arena and the intimacy and ambience of a theatre.

Dining room, bar, lounge and hospitality suite renovations to this exclusive sports club.

York Harbour Hotel
385 room four-star hotel and 100 suite extender-stay tower, cinema and retail complex, office, 480,000 sq.ft. Parking garage for 1,000 cars. 48 stories.

Collingwood Public Library and Municipal Office Building

The 96,000 volume library is the first LEED Gold library in the province of Ontario, complete with a Green Roof and Ground Source Heat Pump. 32,000 sq.ft. $10 million.

 

Appleby Twin-Pad Arena Addition, Burlington

Twin-pad addition to the existing twin-pad Appleby Ice Centre. NHL hockey rink and a hybrid NHL and figure-skating rink. 67,000 sq.ft. $12 million.

 

Wasaga Beach Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Phase 3 addition to the existing Recplex. This phase was constructed by the municipality and operated by the Simcoe/Muskoka YMCA. 25 m 4-lane main pool, play pool, conversation pool, Fitness centre, 5 change rooms, program rooms, offices and ancillary spaces. 30,000 sq.ft.

 

Oil Heritage District Aquatic and Community Centre, Petrolia

25 m 4-lane main pool, therapeutic pool, play pool, gymnasium, program rooms, dressing rooms, fitness centre, offices and ancillary spaces. 30,000 sq.ft.

 

Thronhill Community Centre and Pool Expansion, Markham

Phased expansion at both ends of the existing sports complex to maximize utility of the site. Therapeutic pool, whirlpools, saunas, fitness centre, aerobics studio, gymnasium, change rooms, seniors centre, program rooms. 27,000 sq.ft.

 

Morningside Library

45,000 volume community branch library adjoining a park. The architectural design with warm cladding material and pitched roof form is complementary with the residential neighbourhood.


Aurora Seniors Centre
The pavilion structure is perched on the banks of conservation land, overlooking an arboretum and trail system.


Alderville Community Centre

Community Hall/gymnasium, licensed day care centre for 52 children, meeting rooms. 17,000 sq.ft.

Birchmount Park Recreation Centre, Toronto
Leisure pool, child care room, multi-purpose room, crafts room, offices. 40,000 sq.ft. $ 8.6 million.

The 20 year old aquatic and fitness complex features the longest pool (77 m) in Canada. The design concept rejuvenate the 120,000 sq.ft. complex to meet the demographic. $16 million.

Mnjikaning Kendaaswin Elementary School, Rama
Elementary school building as Phase 2 addition to the Rama Community Complex. Aboriginal art motif was used in creating bold, colourful floor tile patterns in the classrooms and public spaces.
